Relationships
East Baltimore Graffiti Church is a cooperating Church of the Southern Baptist Convention. We participate in partnership voluntarily with the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network (BCMD) sharing the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ in our two state convention. We serve the city of Baltimore as a member church of the Baltimore Baptist Association.
As Southern Baptists we believe that together, cooperatively, we can do so much more for the kingdom of God than any one church can do alone. The SBC is the largest Protestant missionary sending organization in the world. Our church exists in large part due to the efforts of the North American Mission Board (NAMB). Graffiti is part of NAMB’s SEND North America emphasis whose goal is to share Christ, and to love and serve people in our cities in Jesus’ name.
East Baltimore Graffiti Church is associated with the Graffiti Churches in New York City. East 7th Street Baptist Church celebrated its fortieth anniversary in the Lower East Side of New York City in 2015. Their vision has been to serve children, the addicted & homeless, and all who come to their community. They are the hands and feet of Jesus holding forth the hope of the Gospel and serving others in practical Christ centered ministry.
Meet Our Leaders
Pastor Charlie & Diane Brown
Diane and I were married in 1985 and have two adult children and four grandchildren. We lived in Chesapeake Beach for twenty-five years. We both served actively at Bayside Baptist Church and in 2000 I was ordained for the purpose of full time pastoral ministry to students. I graduated from Washington Bible College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biblical Studies & Youth Ministry. I became the Associate Pastor at Dunkirk Baptist Church in 2007 where Diane and I served for almost eight years. Diane has been an educator for nineteen years. She has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education. She loves the challenge of educating the next generation.
After several years of serving in urban environments with students Diane and I began to sense a distinct call to plant a church family in the City. The challenge for us became which city? We served with students in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, Nashville TN, and Asheville NC. After several trips to multiple cities to prayer walk we began to sense the very real call to Baltimore MD. Every time we prayer walked in Baltimore we ended up on Greenmount Avenue in East Baltimore. We immediately sensed a real love for the people and a burden to come and share the hope of the Gospel and our lives with this community. We are home!
